KATZ Chef's Pick EVOO
We are proud to release the 2022 KATZ Estate Grown Chef’s Pick Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
The olives were pressed at the Frantoio Grove mill under the watchful and keen eye of Patrick. The finished Chef’s Pick blend has its traditional “green” notes and is quite harmonious...it is aromatic with pronounced herbaceousness in the aroma with flavor notes in the mouth of green almond, spice, and tomato leaf...all in balance. It finishes with a punch of nice black pepper pungency that lets you know it is fresh oil.
The backbone of this oil comes from the Taggiasca and Casaliva olives grown on our Rock Hill Ranch in the historic Suisun Valley. (A few other cultivars make up the blend including Pendolino, Frantoio, Nocellara and Picual, totaling about 10% of the finished oil.)
The blend will continue to evolve as climate change and small farming in general evolves to meet the needs and challenges presented to us yearly, but what will never change is our effort to craft excellent, high-quality olive oil year after year. Our 40+ gold medals over the last 19 years hopefully stand as a testament to our determination to make sure our name KATZ on the label is your assurance of those ongoing efforts.
